Premessa
Fidelity and Mediation: the Jurisdiction of the Lords of Lucerne in the Waldensian Valleys (Mid-XVI to Early XVII Century).
The Article focuses on the particular diplomatic interaction between the kingdom of England and the Savoyard states with regard to the Waldensian question. From the beginning of the XVII century to the middle of the XVIII century the Author discerns five moments of overlap between diplomatic relations and religious questions. They are Charles Emmanuel I’s marriage transactions in London from 1610 to 1613, the actions of Oliver Cromwell during the Piedmont Easters, the anti-French negotiations at the end of the XVII century, London’s intervention in the dispositions for Waldensians in the Royal Constitutions, and the mid-eighteenth-century restrictive measures against Protestants brought in by Charles Emmanuel III.
