PRIVACY POLICY FOR THE SITE

REASON FOR THIS NOTICE

On this page is described how the site is managed with reference to the handling of the personal data of users who visit it.

This information is also provided in accordance with article 13 of Legislative Decree n. 196/2003 –Watchdog Code for the protection of personal data with regard to the protection of said data applied to subjects interacting with the web services accessed online at the following address:

This notice is applicable solely to the SSV site and not to any other site that may be visited by users through links.

This notice is also informed by Recommendation n. 2/2001 from the European authorities assembled in the Group set up under article 29 of Directive n. 95/46/CE. Adopted on 17 May 2001, the Recommendation establishes minimum requirements for the collection of personal data online and, in particular, the methods, times and type of data that those in charge of data handling are obliged to inform users of when the latter visit the site’s web pages, whatever the motive for doing so.

DATA HANDLING ‘OWNER’

Following visits to the site, the data of identified or identifiable users may be subject to handling.

The ‘owner’ of the data handling is the Società di Studi Valdesi with head offices in Torre Pellice, Torino (Italia), Via Beckwith n. 3, 10066.

DATA HANDLING LOCATION

Data handling connected with the web services on the site is carried out at the aforementioned head offices of the SSV by in-house technical personnel responsible for data handling or by others charged with occasional maintenance work.

None of the data coming from the web service are communicated or released.

Personal data supplied by users requesting the sending of informational material (bulletins, CD-ROMs, newsletters, annual reports, replies to queries, etc.) are used for the sole purpose of providing the service required and communicated to third parties only where this is necessary for effecting the service.

TYPE OF DATA HANDLED

Web navigation data

The data processing systems and software procedures used for the functioning of this website record during normal operations personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

The data in question is not gathered so as to be linked to identified interested subjects but, due to its very nature, could enable identification of user through elaboration and association with data held by third parties.

The type of data includes IP addresses or domain names of the computers utilized by users visiting the site, the URI addresses of the resources requested, time of request, method used to make request to the server, size of file received in reply, code number indicating status of reply from the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the computer operating system or user’s computer environment.

The data are used for the sole purpose of gathering anonymous statistical information on the use of the site and to monitor its proper working. They are deleted immediately afterwards. The data could be used in establishing responsibility in the case of presumed illicit actions to the detriment of the site. Except for any such eventuality, at present the data for web contacts are kept for no more than seven days.

Data supplied voluntarily by the user

The explicit or voluntary optional sending of electronic mail to the addresses mentioned on this site entails the ensuing acquisition of the sender’s address, necessary for replying to requests, as well as any other personal data included in the message.

Summary informational specifications will be progressively shown on the site pages set up for particular services on request.

OPTIONAL PROVISION OF DATA

Beside that specified for navigation data, the user is free to supply personal data on the forms for requesting the SSV to send informational material or other communications.

Failure to supply said data may make it impossible to supply what has been requested.

For the sake of completeness, it should be remembered that in some cases (not subject to the ordinary governance of the site) the Authorities may ask for information and data according to article 157 of Legislative Decree n. 157/2003 for the purpose of monitoring personal data handling. It is compulsory to reply on pain of an administrative fine.

METHOD OF DATA HANDLING

Subjects whose personal data is handled have the right to obtain at any time confirmation of the existence or not of said data and to know the content and origin, to check its accuracy and ask for it to be supplemented, updated or corrected (article 7 of Leg. Law n. 196/2003).

In conformity with above article, there is the right to request deletion, transformation into an anonymous form or blockage of data handled illegally, as well as in any event to refuse data handling for a legitimate motive.

Any request should be addressed to the SSV.

COOKIES

Cookies policy for the site comply with the directive of the Privacy Watchdog.

The site does not use profiling cookies but only of a technical kind such as those for:
– access to restricted areas
– content sharing on social networks
– statistical surveying of portal navigation by means of Google analytics
– sharing video files [YouTube, Vimeo, etc.]

According to the regulations for the installation of said cookies, prior consent of the user is not required.

What are COOKIES?

The nature of cookies differs according to duration, the domain that installed them and function.

Duration

Session cookies
Temporary files that are stored until the site is exited (or the navigating browser is closed).

Persistent cookies
Files kept and stored following exiting of site and closing of browser. They are deleted only on the cookie’s individual expiry date.

Domain

“Proprietary” cookies
Files installed directly on the user’s device from the site being navigated. Use of these cookies is not effected on the Review’s site.

“Third party” cookies
Files installed from external sites through the code integrated in the site pages being navigated. Examples are those installed from social plugins (for content sharing) or cookies for analyzing visits. Third party cookies are not generally essential for navigation so that they can be rejected by default through specific browser functions as described below. They may be present at times as a function of the downloaded content but not for proliferation.

Function

“Technical” cookies
Generally used to carry out data processing authentication, monitoring of sessions and storing of specific information on users accessing a webpage.

“Analytics” cookies
Used to gather information in aggregate form on the number of users and on how they visit the site, and consequently formulate general statistical data on the service and it use.

Social widget cookies
Some widgets made available by social networks (for example Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Maps, etc.) may use their own, that is “third-party”, cookies. Disabling does not impair use of the site except in sections where widgets (for example, to supplement videos or maps) are installed and, in some cases, it may affect rapid sharing of content or the possibility to comment on some parts of the site.

Advertising cookies
The site does NOT make use of this kind of cookie.

Social network buttons and widgets
In order to enable the sharing of content on social networks by site visitors, it is possible to add to the pages the tools (widgets) made available by the social networks themselves.

These tools (usually blocks of code inserted on the pages of the host site) are able to gather third-party cookies installed by social networks (for example Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.). The site does not share any information with such widgets.

If Safari is used on portable devices, like iPhone and iPad, then this procedure has to be adopted: click on the heading “settings” on the device and look for “Safari” in the menu to the left. The options for cookies can be managed from the heading “Privacy and security”.
